Dear Joseph A. McNeil School Community,
Welcome to the start of an exciting new school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome our returning families and extend a heartfelt greeting to those joining the Joseph A. McNeil family for the first time.
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, we are reminded that every new year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve. Together, we will continue to foster a school community where every child feels safe, valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.
Our work this year is grounded in the Hempstead Union Free School District's mission to inspire every student to develop a love of learning, achieve academic excellence through innovative teaching and learning, empower student voice and purpose, and develop strong character. We are committed to providing rigorous, engaging instruction while ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to succeed.
At Joseph A. McNeil School, we believe that excellence begins with strong relationships. We will continue to partner with our families and community to create meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and global awareness. We want every student to know that their voice matters and that they have the ability to make a positive impact both within our school and beyond.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme school, we will continue to nurture students who are knowledgeable, caring, reflective, principled, and open-minded while encouraging inquiry and a lifelong passion for learning. Together, we will empower our students to become confident thinkers, compassionate leaders, and responsible global citizens.
